The Hampton Inn & Suites Bemidji is a 100-room hotel nestled on the southern shore of pristine and scenic Lake Bemidji. Built like a lodge, and sitting on 650 feet of sandy beach, the hotel provides visitors with an unforgettable northern Minnesota experience.
Richard Siegert knew he could do better. After operating the Edgewater Inn on Lake Bemidji for 30 years, some telling facts were evident. With 106 motel and apartment units, Edgewater Inn was small and getting a little old. With four acres of land and 650 feet of beautiful frontage on Lake Bemidji, the Inn sat on prime real estate. Bemidji attracted many tourists year-round. The Inn was located in a central, downtown location. Siegert knew he had to expand to capture a larger share of the hospitality market in Bemidji. He took out a $1.3 million SBA 504 loan for a development project that totaled $8.5 million. Thanks to locking in a long-term, low-interest rate, the SBA portion of the loan provided Siegert with more financing.
The results speak for themselves. The Hampton Inn & Suites Bemidji contains a 3,800-square-foot conference center along with other meeting rooms and a breakfast bar. There is an 11,000-square-foot area with pool, spa, sauna and slides and an adjoining Green Mill restaurant. The expanded facility will enable the hotel to tap into both the business and recreational hospitality market made up of vacationers and people attending company conventions and retreats.
